What is an asset book? How do I create one?An asset book is the database that contains all your information. It is a folder that you create and contains about 100 files. The 100 files are a combination of database files (in FoxPro Format), set-up information files (with extension INI), CDX files and some other miscellaneous files. Within the asset book, there is a file with the extension "MFA." This is the file that you would use to open the asset book within Fixed Assets. However, the 'MFA" file does not contain all the information, it needs all the other files in the asset book folder to work properly. To create a new asset book, open up Fixed Assets. You may see a window that gives you some options. Please click on "Create a New Asset Book." If you do not see this window, please click on File, then on New. Choose a location for the placement of your asset book. This can be on your local hard drive or on any shared drive, as long as that drive is mapped. You will also need all user permissions (read, write, delete, create) in order for Fixed Assets to work properly. |
