Before you begin installing the WorthIT software, you need to decide what kind of setup you require:
Stand-Alone Setup: This setup is for users who need WorthIT Software solely on one machine. This involves the Server, Client, and Licensing install all on one machine. You can still save your asset book anywhere, (i.e. on your server for backup purposes) but this will decrease performance depending on your network connection.
Client/Server Setup: If you have purchased multi-user licensing (Fixed Assets 4.0/4.1CE) or the network license (Fixed Assets 3.5/4.1SE with more than one user), you should use this install. The server install is installed on the server (or on a shared drive) and then individual client installs are done on the local machines.
Every full install of WorthIT Software requires three main steps: server install, client install, and licensing diskette install:
Server install:
1. Insert the CD-ROM. The installation process should begin automatically. If not, please run the setup.exe from Windows Explorer on the CD-ROM drive.
2. The setup wizard will guide you through installing the server components.
You will find your registration number on the back of the CD
case.
3. You must continue with the Client setup on any machine that needs to run WorthIT Fixed Assets.
1. Under the WorthIT directory, run Client/caclient.exe for any local computer
that will need access to WorthIT Software applications. If you have just
finished installing the server install, the client install will run
automatically after the server install.
2. The setup wizard will guide you through installing the client components. You
can install all the components even though you may not have a license for them.
This allows you to evaluate other WorthIT applications if you decide to purchase
in the future. The
selections are:
Fixed Assets Multi-User - for 4.0/4.1CE users
Fixed Assets Network - for 3.5/4.1SE users
Fixed Assets Upgrade Wizard - only needed for users
who are upgrading from Fixed Assets 2.0 or 3.0
Fixed Asset Report and Image Gallery - for Fixed Assets PLUS users
Lease Manager, Lease Manager Image Gallery, Lease Analyst - install if purchased
Backup & Restore - install if purchased Fixed Assets 3.5/4.0/4.1SE/4.1CE
and/or Lease Manager
Interfacing - Solomon and ACCPAC interfacing module to Fixed Assets, install if purchased
The Client Install will make entries to the Registry, thus if you need to uninstall the client, you must do so through the Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.
Licensing Diskette Installation
1. Insert the licensing diskette in a 3.5" floppy disk on a client
machine.
2. Open up Windows Explorer and browse to the 3.5" floppy drive. Run the install.exe.
3. The install will now ask you to select the application directory.
This is your WorthIT directory where all the applications reside in.
Please choose the WorthIT directory.
